Moses once asked God, “Why do you destroy the life you have brought forth?” God did not answer the question but only said, “Go sow a field with seed, and then you will know.” Moses sowed, the crop grew, and the ears of wheat waved in the wind. Moses took a sickle and began the harvest. Then God’s voice rang out. “Why do you destroy the life you have brought forth?” “Because I must separate the straw and grain on the threshing floor,” Moses replied. “If you understand how to do that,” replied God, “then know that I do likewise.”
